There once was a time, before closures, before Lucasarts, when the name "Sierra" meant premium PC adventure gaming. Those days are, sadly, long gone. But they will not be forgotten!


If you head over to Sarien, you can take part in a little project that's part-game, part-museum piece, with old Sierra adventure games running in Flash on your browser. The graphics are the same, and if you want, you can use text commands, but a right-click menu system has also been introduced to speed things up a bit.


That's the game part. The museum part comes in a gallery of assets from the old games, with a wide range of things like background art available for browsing.


Interestingly, it also supports...well, multiplayer, with the internet-based nature of the games allowing users to see other gamers attempting the same puzzles as you are in real-time.


Currently three games are supported -Leisure Suit Larry 1, Police Quest 1 and Space Quest 1 - with more promised.

Απο οτι λεει ,προσφερει και καποιο ειδος multiplayer,cool or not δυστυχως ο PS3 browser δεν το υποστηριζει (firefox,opera,explorer ναι) .

Κριμα και θα ηταν ωραια σε 32αρα LCD.

As if a free, simple interface for enjoying these games weren't enough, Sarien adds a bizarre twist: (optional) multiplayer. When you go into a game, you'll be surrounded by identical avatars, all playing their own adventures. You can watch them explore and type commands (that's right, typing), or you can provide tips to your fellow players. It can be pretty disorienting to adventure game fans but once you get used to the crowd, it's an interesting variation on these old games.

Και για να λέμε και την μαύρη αλήθεια, δεν ήταν καν ηθικό πλέον. Ούτε ως "abandonware" που δεν μπορείς να αγοράσεις νόμιμα.

Δεδομένου ότι η Activision πουλάει κανονικά τις συλλογές των King's Quest, Police Quest και Space Quest στο gog.com χωρίς καν DRM. Και αλλού με DRM.

Good news!!

Official authorization Activision proposed to officially authorize Sarien.net to publish the first game of any series in its multiplayer HTML5 form.As it may generate interest in also playing the games' successors, Sarien.net will provide a link to Steam and other services that offer the full game collections. To me that sounds beyond "fair enough", and very reasonable. Also, as Activision may (or may not) choose to provide official releases of these games through the AppStore, they requested that all iPad versions of the games be removed.
