Alien Breed Remake coming in 2009...

Remember Alien Breed? It was an Amiga classic, later rolling up on the (DOS) PC. If you are unfamiliar, think Gauntlet, with a heavy dose of Aliens - space Marines battling wave after wave of slavering death, the usual deal.

Well, remember it or no - it's coming back. Team 17 have confirmed to Videogaming247 that they are working on a remake for release next year.

Quite how it will distinguish itself from all the other space-marine-battling-wave-after.. etc, games that have arrived since the early 90s — not to mention the officially licensed Aliens games — remains to be seen. It was fun at the time though, so maybe Team 17 still have a bit of the old magic left down the back of the action gaming sofa.

Worms creators Team17 Software formally announced its plans to release Alien Breed Evolution, an Unreal Engine 3-powered remake of its Amiga top-down shooter.


As the original Alien Breed is now 18-years-old, some of you may be too young to remember it. Think Gauntlet meets Aliens. Or, you know, think Alien Syndrome. (No, don't think of the more recent Wii re-imagining. Think of the Sega arcade original.)


Team17 didn't confirm a platform (or platforms) for Alien Breed Evolution, but we hope they'll offer co-op alien killing enjoyment for anyone with access to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The "retro modern" remake is due later this year, with the developer promising more details before end of Summer.

Τα screenshots είναι πολύ ελπιδοφόρα! Ένα τυμβωρυχικό first person shooter που απλά θα έφερε το όνομα Alien Breed θα με άφηνε αδιάφορο (αφού δεν παίζω FPS και δεν μου άρεσε και το AB3D), αλλά αυτό δείχνει να είναι πολύ κοντά στο retro!

Μου αρέσει που γράφει "αν είσαι πολύ νέος για να θυμάσαι το ΑΒ, σκέψου τα Gauntlet, Aliens, Alien Syndrome" (που είναι ακόμα πιο παλιά) :animlaugh:

Πολύ καλά νέα! Ένα νέο Alien Breed με Co-op στην ίδια οθόνη είναι ότι πρέπει για να παίζεις με φίλους. Αλλά πρέπει να επιτρέπει dual joystick (αλά Robotron 2084) ή mouse/keyboard ώστε να μπορείς να κινείσαι και να πυροβολείς ανεξάρτητα.

Απίστευτο νέο!Ώρα για Coop!

Τα Alien Breed 3D ήταν λίγο περίεργα για την εποχή τους αλλά ωραία παιχνίδια.

Speaking at the Develop Conference in Brighton, England today, Team17 leader Martyn Brown described his studio's forthcoming digital release, Alien Breed Evolution, as a trilogy -- "one of the most expensive digital titles to-date," too -- according to GamesIndustry.biz. Said to be costing in the realm of $2.5 million to develop, Team17's Unreal remake of its Amiga shooter will be distributed in three parts, spanning an estimated 15 hours of gameplay. The first "episode" will include three, one-hour levels and an additional three-hour, co-op scenario, and is scheduled to hatch on Xbox Live Arcade around October and destined for PSN at a later date, confirmed VG247.
