Breaking: Ziff Davis Sells 1UP To UGO/Hearst, Closes EGM Following repeated rumors to the effect, Gamasutra has learned that Ziff Davis has sold its 1UP division to Hearst's UGO Entertainment, and is shutting long-running print magazine EGM in the process.
According to a statement received by Gamasutra, Ziff Davis Media has now officially announced the sale of the 1UP Digital Network to Hearst's UGO Entertainment division.

The sale includes 1UP.com, Mycheats.com, Gametab.com, and

GameVideos.com, and specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In association with this, Ziff Davis Media's EGM Magazine, a consumer game print mainstay since 1989, will be discontinued. The January 2009 issue will be the final printed issue.

Πώς να έχεις καλό review παιχνιδιού όταν βγαίνει την ίδια μέρα που το δίνει η εταιρία στον δημοσιογράφο (για να προλάβει τα υπόλοιπα sites που θα κάνουν το ίδιο);

Πάντως και μόνο το εξώφυλλο που βλέπω (explosion of 16-bit gaming! wooooooow!)

"business is war" που έλεγε και ο Tramiel.

“Youʼll still see material and stories broken in print, but it canʼt be the editorial objective in my opinion. If you approach the content from the perspective of depth of coverage you can offer something that online doesnʼt do as well. As far as specific content youʼll have to stay tuned…Iʼd also comment that print is only a component of what we intend to do.”
