Symphonic Shades - concert date and conductor announcedSaturday, 22. December 2007, 17:35
The WDR Radio Orchestra and WDR Radio Choir will present "Symphonic Shades - Huelsbeck in Concert" on August 23, 2008 (Saturday) at 8 PM in Cologne, Germany. At the Funkhaus Wallrafplatz, music by Chris Huelsbeck will be performed, one of the world's most famous composers of video game music.
"This is like a dream coming true. I still cannot believe it. Who could have guessed that my music would be performed by a full orchestra one day, in a concert dedicated to my work exclusively. I am confident that it will be an amazing production", says Chris Huelsbeck.
The 70 min. of music will be conducted by Grammy-winning artist Arnold Roth. The classically trained violinist, conductor and composer performed with artists including Diana Ross, the Three Tenors and Andrea Bocelli. Orchestras which Arnold Roth conducted include the London Symphony Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic. He is also well-known in the world of video game music: in 2005 he conducted the US tour with music from "Final Fantasy". With his new tour "Distant Worlds" he is now traveling around the world. At the beginning of December 2007 he conducted three sold out concerts with music by John Williams, performed by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at the Sydney Opera House.
Arnold Roth: "I am very much looking forward working with the excellent musicians of the WDR. I hold Chris Huelsbeck in high regard and it is a great honour for me to conduct his compositions in Cologne".
