O γνωστος David Perry χαλαει την εκπληξη της Sony και δινει πληροφοριες για το νεο PSP. Δεν θα διαθετει UMD. Τωρα πως θα φορτωνονται τα παιχνιδια? Μαλλον digital download...

Perry: PSP 2 is Real, Could Hit This Fall
The a UMD-free Playstation Portable 2 is indeed real and could hit as early as this fall, David Perry, chief creative officer at Acclaim, told Kotaku today.

"I spoke to a developer who is working on it right now," he said. "I know this developer is already working on it, so that means they have a prototype. That would sound like a fall release to me."

Perry said he is excited about the news.

"I've been pounding on Sony for a long time to make the Playstation Portable relevant and not to let Apple stroll away with the portable game market," he said. "Look at what Apple is doing now. Why are so many investors investing in Apple game development? Trying to pitch a PSP game to investors right now is brutal."

The idea of a UMD-free Playstation Portable begs the question of how games will be loaded onto the device.

 


Perry believe it will be done through digital downloads and direct connect to a computer.

The ultimate goal, he says, is for the Playstation Portabel to go 100 percent digital. Not only would that allow Sony to have a more direct connection with their customers and get a larger piece of the sales pie, it would essentially kill the used game sales market.

As a stop gap to keep retailers like GameStop interested in selling the Playstation Portable 2, which they make little to no money on, Perry thinks that Sony would at least initially sell games for the device on Memory Sticks, as they currently do with some movies, or with pre-paid cards.

As for backwards compatibility, it stands to reason, Perry says, that all current PSP titles would show up on Playstation's online store.

While Perry insists that the PSP2 is real, and already been developed for, a lot of the details about distribution and release are more speculative on his part.

It does make sense that games will one day go digital only, it seems inevitable. But is now too soon for something like the PSP?

Για αρχη θα δινονται σε memory stick,μετα θα εχει download.

Oσο για backward compatability ολα τα παιχνιδια του PSP 1 θα ανεβουν στο PSN.

Whispers of a new or revised PSP have been growing decidedly louder as of late, and now 1UP's gotten a ton of new details from what it claims are "sources directly involved with the new system" -- our favorite kind of people, actually. Here's what they were told: UMD is out, replaced instead with options for either 8GB or 16GB of built-in flash memory.

Also nixed is any hope of a "PSP-4000," with Sony opting instead to use a subtitle. Three rumored names include PSP Slide, PSP Flip, and PSP Go!, the latter of which borrows from Sony's pre-existing Go! brand and suggests there might be a built-in camera à la PSP-3000's Go!Cam peripheral. The same D-pad, analog nub, and face button configuration remains, but they now slide out from the bottom of the unit (see mockup, pictured).

Expected launch is September for Japan and late October / early November for US, and coming with 'em are over 100 classic and new downloadable titles including Gran Turismo Mobile as a headliner.

Sony's supposedly going official with all this during its E3 press conference in early June, and for now they're opting to give the staple "does not comment on rumors or speculation" response.

Πάντως εγώ δεν το βρίσκω άσχημο. Απο τη άλλη το PSP μου το έχω γεμάτο emulators, και τρέχει τα πάντα που μου αρέσει να ασχολούμε... οπότε δεν βλέπω τον λόγο να το αποχωριστώ για χάρη ενως καινούργιου PSP. Εκτός και αν είναι πάρα πάρα πολύ ποίο γρήγορο και τρέχει το winuae σε αποδεκτή ταχύτητα, γιατί εκεί το σημερινό PSP ζορίζεται άσχημα

καλά δεν είναι και ότι ομορφότερο έχω δει στην ζωή μου... ΑΛΛΑ το πιο άσχημο πράγμα που έχει επάνω του είναι το ταμπελάκι με την ΤΙΜΗ ΤΟΥ!!! 250? WTF τί στο καλό έχουν στο κεφάλι τους εκεί που θα έπρεπε να είναι το μυαλό τους; Θεωρητικά δεν μιλάμε για τον αντικαταστάτη αλλά για ένα αντίστοιχο του GB micro... ήτοι είναι πιο μικρό θα έπρεπε να είναι και ΠΙΟ ΦΤΗΝΟ όχι 50% πιο ακριβό. ΟΚ, καλύτερα να πάρω ένα δεύτερο PSP3000 και ένα DSi δίνοντας κάτι παραπάνω (αν και παίζουν και προσφορές) παρά να δώσω λεφτά στους ανεγκέφαλους της Sony... εάν η microsoft έχει βάλει στοίχημα να γραφτεί στην ιστορία ως η εταιρεία με τις περισσότερες καμμένες κονσόλες, αυτοί εδώ έχουν βαλθεί να ισοπεδώσουν την εταιρεία των 60+ χρόνων σε χρόνο ρεκόρ με τις βλακείες που κάνουν!!!

Υπάρχει σχέδιο.

Μέχρι σήμερα η Sony απλώς έτρωγε την σκόνη της Nintendo και του DS.

Με τις διαφαινόμενες μελλοντικές ισορροπίες, θα έχει μείνει τόσο πίσω που κανείς δεν θα μπορεί να ισχυριστεί ότι τρώει την σκόνη της Nintendo. Θα έχει ήδη κατακαθίσει. -> άρα βελτίωση

Οκ με πείσατε. Μενω με το PSP slim και χτυπαω και ενα DS

Δεν έβγαζαν καλύτερα ένα Playstation 2 Portable; Αφού το PSP έχει φάει εδώ και καιρό τη σκόνη του DS και δεν φαίνεται να αλλάζει η κατάσταση, και τα περισσότερα παιχνίδια του μοιάζουν με τα κονσολικά ξαδέρφια τους (αντί να επικεντρώνεται σε pick up and play για 5 λεπτά handheld games), θα ήταν καλύτερα να βγάλουν το "αυθεντικό" με τον τεράστιον back catalogue. Και θα έδινε νέα πνοή ζωής στο PS2, και θα μπορούσες να παίζεις ένα παιχνίδι στο σπίτι και μετά να το συνέχιζες στο portable.

Αν δεν το εχετε καταλαβει αυτη η κονσολα εχει μια πρωτια και ειναι ενα μεγαλο στοιχημα για την Σονυ.

Ειναι η πρωτη κονσολα χωρις cartridge,cd,dvd umd ,whatever......

Αν γινει επιτυχια πειτε bye bye στα φυσικα μεσα καθως και στα μισοτιμης μεταχειρισμενα .
