Three abandoned ships, "Stacoco" "Drepano" and "Elefantas", stacked together and laying aground in the shallow waters of Aspropyrgos, waiting to be dismantled and turn into scrap, photographed on a rainy day.
The first one "Stacoco" has quite an interesting story.
It was built in 1952 in Germany as "St Michael" and after changing many names and owners, it got its final name "STACOCO" from its last owner, the famous Greek singer STAmatis COCOtas who made an (obviously failed) attempt to get involved into shipping.
In 1978 (and being less than a year in Cocotas' ownership) the ship carrying a load of bulk cement got water which was absorbed by the cement, (obviously) turning it into stone and run aground at the same place we see it today. Because of the petrified cement, raising the ship is very difficult and costly so the ship remains rusting on the same spot for the last 40 years.
